Fun with grandpa and granny

The Diamond Valley Toy Library is offering discounted membership to grandparents who borrow toys for their grandchildren, in an effort to gain more members.

Spokeswoman Tracey Russell said that to enable grandparents to be able to make use of the toy library a new seniors' fee of $30 which was $10 less than the usual charge had been introduced.

The same fee applied to health-care card holders.

Ms Russell said her own father, Barry Watson, had joined so he could borrow toys when he was looking after her daughter Hayley, aged two.

The Library, at the Diamond Valley Library, Civic Drive , Greensborough, is stocked with more than 500 toys, games, puzzles and costumes for children aged six months to eight years.

Ms Russell said the library was run by volunteer parents and operated two borrowing sessions a week: Tuesdays from 7pm to 8.15pm and Fridays from 10.30am to 11.45am during school term.
